New Community - fanart_recs

fanart_recs is a new Dreamwidth community for fanart recommendations. It is intended to become a collective, multifandom rec repository akin to the Crack Van-type communities, only for fanart. Anyone can join the community, but posting is restricted to mods and the reccers who have signed up to post recs for their fandom during the current month.

So far nobody has signed up yet to do Merlin fanart recs, but with Merlin being such a fanart-rich fandom, I'm hoping there will be. So if you'd like to volunteer for posting some fanart recs (at least four) for Merlin (or in some other fandom of your choice), whether starting right now for posting at some point in October, or to volunteer for reccing during a later month in advance, please check out the intro and the sign-up post. And of course you can just join or subscribe fanart_recs to get fanart recs.

ladiesbigbang is a woman-centric panfandom multimedia big bang challenge that welcomes artists, vidders, podficcers, fanmixers, picspammers, reccers, graphics folks, meta writers and fiction writers. (In other words, various types of creators can sign up to create a big bang entry, not just fiction writers.) RPF, crossovers, and AUs are welcome.

Sign-ups for creators, betas, and cheerleaders are open until April 30.

More information: challenge overview, rules & guidelines for creators. And even if you're not interested in participating, you may want to give podficcers permission to record your fic or drop off some woman-centric prompts to help inspire participants.

This probably won't make too much sense if you don't know the Princess Bride (and might very well make no sense to you if you do *g*) but really, there were too many 'nods' by the Merlin writers to some of the classic Princess Bride scenes it had to to be done.

Mostly this is for Ben Vanstone, because he writes Merlin in a way that remind me of the Princess Bride. Each story he writes contains the capacity of True Love and High Adventure and the possibility of greatness for each character.

Because Arthur will be a great King and Merlin the most powerful wizard of them all and Guinevere will be a guiding force for both of them and Morgana will hold in her hands the power over them all. Which doesn't mean they will live happily ever after what with the thing of life not being fair.
